+1 for Automate the Boring Stuff. It's also free to read online.
Honestly, I learned more from doing small projects alongside a book than from reading cover to cover. Read a chapter, then build something tiny with it the same day.
That's probably my problem — reading without building.
Python Crash Course here. The projects at the end are a nice bridge to real code.
